On January 13, in Mumbai, a woman was allegedly drugged and sexually assaulted by a friend on social media. The case is being looked into by the police in Worli, south Mumbai.
The 21-year-old described her “most traumatic experience” of meeting the accused, Heetik Shah, on that fateful night in a heartbreaking Instagram post. She added that the two had only communicated over Instagram up until that point.
“Heetik Shah and I started at spot A, where we went out for drinks and partied. We made our way to Bastian after getting to know a few of his buddies. I became wasted at the party after a few tequila shots, and I started to feel nervous and alone,” she remarked.
She added that she thought she was “roofied,” but she was forced to drink more by the accused, which resulted in a blackout episode. The term “being roofied” refers to the act of someone being drugged and then raped or sexually assaulted.
“I had a blackout episode, not remembering what happened after he demanded that I drink more. Maybe I was roofied, I wonder. She described the terrifying night, saying, “I woke up to him raping me, and despite my attempts to stop him, he continued and even slapped me three times with intense rage, leaving me scared and intimidated.”
She stated that the alleged rape took place at one of Mr. Shah’s friends’ homes.
When it turned out to be his friend’s property, his friends stepped in to keep him safe. He even threatened me in front of them in an attempt to get me out before I could contact them for assistance. He tried to get away from the situation after departing.
“My cousin was summoned to come get me. I couldn’t bring myself to tell my parents about that night since I was so hurt and bruised,” the woman wrote.
But the following morning, when the accused expressed regret to her for his actions, the woman remarked, “His morning apology means nothing to me, and he has absconded because he knows what he has done.” He hasn’t been taken into custody after 12 days. He’s made an application for deferred prosecution.”
The screenshot of the supposed apology read: “Hi, I am genuinely sorry for whatever happened tonight. I didn’t mean to do what happened; the situation got heated up and escalated and I’m really very sorry, I hope we can get over this and leave this behind us, I’m again very apologetic and sorry.”

The post claims that Heetik Shah has been accused of rape and intentionally causing harm in accordance with the applicable sections of the Indian Penal Code.
“I seek justice and urge other girls to be more wary of who they talk to and go out with,” she said.
