Facebook and Instagram down? People were told to “log in again.”

On Tuesday night, social networking sites Facebook and Instagram were unavailable. Issues with logging in were reported by users. They had removed their Facebook and Instagram accounts. Some users could not get Instagram pages to refresh.

You’re not the only one who is trying to log into your Instagram and Facebook accounts this afternoon but isn’t succeeding. With thousands of users affected by the problem, it looks that the social networking apps are both down and not functioning. There is currently no information on when the outage will be resolved, and it appears that the gremlins started at roughly 3:00 pm.

The global outage tracker Downdetector currently displays over 90,000 reports of Facebook outages. With over 16,000 reports on Instagram, this is one of the largest problems Meta, the company that controls both of these networks, has had in a long time.
It’s unclear what’s causing the issues, but a lot of Facebook and Instagram users have resorted to Twitter’s competitor, X, to express their ire.

Cryto, one user, posted: “Facebook is down. Can’t get into my account,” said one person, Hickman, while another said, “Everything in Meta is down, including Facebook and Instagram.”

Such significant problems are really uncommon for Meta programs, and hopefully the tech team will be working very hard to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
